If you want Artica to be part of a hierarchy of proxies or you just want Artica to fetch content not directly from a web server but rather indirectly from another proxy then read on how to do that.
¶ Use a Proxy Parent
- Setup the use of an upstream parent proxy
- Exclude domains from parents
- Connection issue on Parent's proxy, which is always available
¶ Use multiple parents
- Use parents proxies using round-robin (video)
- Use Parent proxies with load-balancing least connection
¶ Architecture
The main purpose of the use of proxy inside a hierarchy is to centralize access rules and accesses events on one or 2 proxies servers act as main hubs
¶ A Proxy client for each remote office
In a large network divided into several remote offices, we are encouraged to install a proxy on each office and each refers to a central proxy.
This infrastructure simplifies web communications in that we are able to control server-to-server communications.
Indeed, workstations located on remote sites have only one way to go through the local installed Artica proxy in order to access trough Internet.
¶ A specific parent proxy for secure extranets
Sometimes you need to centralize and forward browsers requests to a specific secure extranet server with authentication method using a parent proxy on Internet.
