Users get the message Please prepare credentials before connecting when their Remote Desktop client connects without a user name and password and the gateway login screen is disabled. This is a protection, not a failure: it prevents credentials from being typed on a screen that could be recorded.
¶ Option 1: prepare the credentials in the client
- In the Remote Desktop client, set the User name.
- Enable Allow me to save credentials.
- Windows asks for the password before connecting and sends it to the gateway.
¶ Option 2: display the gateway login screen
- Open RDS Proxy » Status.
- In RDP and session authentication settings, edit the session options.
- Turn on Display the login screen and apply.
Clients without prepared credentials then see the gateway login screen. The message itself can be reworded in Service settings » Error messages (error 6).
