It is installed by default starting Service pack 957 or Artica v4.40
Unlike other DNS services, it is not intended to serve resolutions to networks outside the server.
It allows to accelerate the caching of the records and automatically ensures the resolutions via the DoH method
- When this service is installed, local systems and services (except DNS services) use the address 127.0.0.55 on TCP port 53 to resolve host names.
If you have installed the DNS Cache service or the DNS Firewall, the local Cache service will automatically prefer these DNS services before the use of public DNS except for all rules defined in “Forward zones”. - If you want to use a standard resolution, simply remove the service by clicking on the “Uninstall” button on the first green widget.
- There are special addresses that allow the service to transform resolution requests into DoH (DNS requests via HTTPs).
If you specify that the public DNS servers are8.8.8.8or1.1.1.1, then the DNS service will use DoH - The field IP addresses cache size indicates in MB the size of the local memory cache of the DNS service.
It is a memory cache, if you restart the service, the cache is removed.
