By default, when you enable the filtering service, filtering rules are available locally.
This means that Internet services such as proxy or DNS use local resources and rules to deny or allow access.
If you have several Artica servers (like Artica in cluster mode or via HaCluster) it is interesting to mutualize the rules.
This way you can centralize your rules regardless of the Artica server.
Note: If you want to use the ACL Categories object in DNS Load-balancer service, you need to use this feature even you use it locally
Web filter is designed to share rules and filtering service for several Artica servers. The objective of this service is to offer access management functionalities in a local way or in a centralized way.

In Filtering service / Service parameters you can see that the service is disabled by default.
This means that the filtering features are only available to the Artica server itself.
To enable the service, just turn on the “Enable This service” and select the listen Interface in order to listen the network for queries from others Artica servers
You will see the service status turned to green mode.
