Old Remote Desktop clients (Windows XP, Windows 7 without updates) may fail with An authentication error has occurred. The function requested is not supported: they do not support TLS 1.2 or the default cipher suites.
¶ Fix
- Open RDS Proxy » Status and edit Transport Layer Security.
- Set Minimal TLS version to TLS 1.0 (legacy clients).
- Set Cipher suites to More RDP clients (less secure).
- Turn on Fallback to legacy encryption only if the client does not support TLS at all.
- Apply.
These settings lower the security of every connection to the gateway. Update the clients when you can and restore TLS 1.2 afterwards.
