The Wan Compression feature using “Proxy” method and work by pairs of processes, talking to each other, compressing on one side and decompressing on the other.
The WANproxy service can be set up to compress one particular stream (one TCP port) or to compress everything, before the router.
Basically, this feature allows to compress the TCP traffic between two distinct sites.
This allows to reduce the volume of the exchanges.
Again, you need two elements, a parent Artica and a child Artica, to enable compression.
If you want to compress TCP on the Internet, you will have to install a parent Artica inside an Internet service provider for this to work.
This option allows you to hook any TCP port.
It uses transparent mode, the backend compression Proxy server uses a SOCKS5 proxy to retrieve streams.
