By default, the Linux network stack is not optimized for high-speed, large file transfers over WAN connections. This conservative configuration helps save system memory but can limit performance on fast or high-latency links.
To fully leverage high-speed networks, especially when transferring large files between servers, you can tune the Linux network stack by increasing the size of the network buffers. This adjustment allows the system to handle more packets efficiently and improves throughput across WAN links.
