Here are some benefits of using FTPS:
By default, when set an FTP connection the SSL method is explicit (21 port) but you can set the FTP in implicit mode by editing settings
In FTPS implicit, (990 port) the SSL/TLS negotiation is performed immediately upon establishing a connection between the client and server, and the FTP client must use a secure SSL/TLS connection from the start.
This means that the FTP client and server cannot communicate without SSL/TLS encryption and the data transferred between them is encrypted throughout the entire session.
One of the main drawbacks of FTPS implicit is that it is not compatible with NAT (Network Address Translation) devices, which can cause problems when trying to establish a connection with an FTP server that is behind a NAT device.
In contrast, explicit FTPS is a more modern and widely used method of securing FTP connections.
In explicit FTPS, the FTP client initiates an SSL/TLS negotiation after connecting to the FTP server, allowing the connection to be established without encryption and then upgraded to encryption if both the client and server support it.
