haCluster has the ability to perform bandwidth tests between the load balancer and proxy servers within the farm.
This feature allows administrators to actively measure and monitor the network performance between the load balancer and each proxy node.
By running on-demand bandwidth tests, haCluster can detect link quality issues, evaluate throughput capacity, and make smarter load-balancing decisions based on real-time performance metrics — helping to optimize traffic distribution and ensure reliable connectivity within the proxy farm.This feature is available with Artica v4.50 Service Pack 3 or Artica v4.50 Service Pack 2 Hotfix 20250406-11
¶ Prepare the receiver on the load-balancer
- On the left menu, go to
HaCluster > Speed test - Click on the button “Install feature”
- You can also set the listen interface and the listen TCP port
- The service must be up and running
¶ Send order to backends to perform speed tests
This operation involves sending a command to a backend server to test bandwidth with the load balancer.
Do not send the command to multiple servers at the same time, as this will result in inaccurate or incomplete test results. Instead, send the command to one server, wait for the test to complete, then proceed to the next server, and so on.
- On the left menu, go to
HaCluster > Backends - Click on the Action button and choose “Speed test”
- If the option is not available, this means the backend did not have the correct Artica version or the iperf3 binary.
- During the testing operation, a red label “Speed test” is displayed.
- After a few seconds, a new metric will appear next to the backend name, displaying the upload bandwidth.
For example, in our case, backend160reports an upload bandwidth of 2.04 GB/s.
- If we display its status, you will see the calculated Upload and download bandwidth
