The Artica Service Pack 181, take care of your DNS Domains consistency, in particular of SOA records.
- When displaying the local domains of your DNS service you can see an Error stick.
- Click on the domain link.
You can see the following error:
Out of range exception parsing xxx.xxxx.local ns1.xxx.xxx xxxxxx 10800 3600 604800 3600
As you can see the DNS engine claim that the SOA record is corrupted, especially the first number of the SOA (serial) record.
- To fix it, click on the “Records” tab.
- Choose the SOA record of your domain.
- Modify the serial value we suggest to change it to 0 or any “unique identifier”
The fields have complicated and sometimes controversial meanings.
The ‘serial’ field is special.
If left at 0, the default, The DNS Service will perform an internal list of the domain to determine highest change date of all records within the zone, and use that as the zone serial number.This means that the serial number is always raised when changes are made to the zone.
